…not really moving the needle, and 10% (if that) making a positive impact. Approach it the same way you did for your medical school personal statement but just focused toward your desired specialty. I generally followed this guy's format ▶ link which gives you something to start with. …about my personal life. The only truly personal details were shared briefly in the first paragraph where I discussed my motivations for pursuing medicine in general. …600 words. Here's my template: Paragraph 1: Why did you go into medicine ? Paragraph 2+3: Why are you interested in your speciality? Qualities about you are fit for the specialty? Use patient stories, anecdotes and specific clinical encounters and how you contributed to the overall pan Paragraph 4: What qualities are you looking for from programs. What are you applying into? I applied to radiology and prelim-IM this past cycle, and have specific PS for both. I kept it short, simple and to the point. I was told by multiple PDs and chiefs during my interviews that my PS was well written. Key is to keep it below 600 words. Here's my template if you wish to follow: ▶ **▶ link

Successfully matched DR and interviewed at multiple TY/IM-prelim this past cycle. Here's my template for personal statement, which could be applicable to multiple other specialities as well. ▶ link Note: Most importantly, try not exceed more than 1 eras page, which is around 600 words.
