    …the early 1900s until the late 50s/early 60s was to do cardiac massage, basically thoracotomy and squeeze the heart in your hands. Only around the middle of the century did “closed cardiac massage” aka chest compressions become a thing. ▶ This video from the 50s talks about managing a code.
