Boards and beyond goes over the rule of 4’s. It’s also in this YouTube video. Basically it states: Divide brain stem into midbrain, pons, medulla. From there, there are 4 CN midline, each divisible by 12. Non-divisible by 12 CN are lateral. CN 2, 4 in midbrain, 6 in pons, 12 in medulla. Then for tracks: the four midline ones start with M, the four lateral tracks are on the Side (lateral). ▶ link
